Evelyn was always a child with an overactive imagination. She would always be telling her mother and father stories in her head and daydreams she was imagining. About the age of 2 and continuing until Jr. High, on her birthday especially, she would tell her parents about how her “best friend” came to visit her. She always had a hard time describing them to her parents because it was hard to say words like “boy” or “girl” as she really couldn’t tell which her friend was. They had long dark hair, dark eyes, a long pointed face with a distinct nose. They wore a black jacket with a thick black feather collar, nearly sheer black shirt, and black leather pants with tall boots. There were bits of silver here and there over the outfit and she would always tell her parents her friend looked like a rock star. She would tell them stories about how he would whisk her out the window and take her flying all over the world, showing her places only others could dream of. Her stories would be vivid and full of wonder. Her parents would chuckle and write it off as her imaginary friend. Her friend would come other times of the year as well, usually around holidays, but sometimes just randomly, but the birthday visit was always without fail.
In Jr. High though, things changed. Evelyn woke up in the middle of the night as normal to find a person sitting on her window. She jumped out of bed with a smile and ran to hug her friend. She looked forward to the birthday visit more than anything. But after the hug, her friend said they “needed to talk”. It was a hard discussion. They explained that his name was Huginn, and that he was a Raven of Odin in charge of thought. Huginn went on to explain that he was Evelyn’s biological father and that she was what was known as a Scion. There were many questions, a few tears and fears, a bit of excitement, but in the end Evelyn was very accepting about this fact. Huginn promised that this knowledge would not change their relationship, but explained why he could not stay with her. He told her to not treat the man she called “dad” any different, but he also said he would be around to help her develop her powers that would soon come to her.
The next morning Evelyn walked into the kitchen for breakfast. Her mother was putting away dishes as her daughter sat down. She asked her if her friend had visited her last night for their birthday adventure. Evelyn replied “yes, but there was not adventure. We just talked.” When her mother asked what they talked about the only reply was “about how he is my daddy and I am going to get super powers”.
There was a loud crash as several dishes fell to the floor and shattered. Another conversation followed after the clean up, but all and all Evelyn took everything in stride and smiled still through the day.
Huginn has kept his word and has remained fairly close to Evelyn. He is as much of a mentor and second father as the Universe will allow him to be. It is not common for Huginn to be the father of a Scion and holds her as precious.
When Evelyn graduated High School she enrolled at ASU Main. She has become a master and juggling full ride scholarships and current only plans at life are to be a perpetual student for as long as she can, getting every degree that can and will be offered. She doesn’t take extra classes because she feels no need to rush any of it all, and instead just goes through with a normal schedule. She met her now room mate Paige Freshman year first semester.
